This past Sunday, our principal, James McCrery, traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska for the consecration of the new St. Thomas Aquinas Church and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Newman Center, by His Excellency Bishop James Conley of Lincoln. We at McCrery Architects are delighted to share with you some images of the liturgy, in which the building is truly employed to that end for which it was designed. Video footage of the entire ceremony can be found here.
In his homily, Bishop Conley described McCrery Architects, and our friends and collaborators at Clark Architects, Mountain View Millworks, Gold Leaf Studios, and Meyer of Munich as, “artisans of beauty, coming together from around the world to share in a common goal and purpose: to create something beautiful for God, a tapestry of finely-woven beauty, all for the glory of God.” This was certainly our intent, and we are grateful to all those who worked alongside us in realizing this vision.
In case you missed it, here is a post from last month, showcasing the paint and millwork in detail as it was being installed.
Please continue to check in here at the Construction Diary for more pictures of this project in the coming days.
